2013 Seamless Summer Feeding Program

The Colquitt County School Nutrition Department will offer the Seamless Summer Feeding Program to all children in Colquitt County 18 years of age and younger regardless of eligibility status during the regular school year. All free, reduced, and paying students can participate free of charge. Georgia has a total of 180 school districts and currently over 55 of those districts are participating in the program. Seamless Summer Feeding is sponsored by the USDA in an effort to provide nutrition for all children regardless of financial eligibility during the summer months when school is not in session. Click for here full press release.

Colquitt County School Nutrition Program Provides Quality
Meals and Service

The Georgia Department of Education School Nutrition Division recently conducted a federally required review of the Colquitt County School Nutrition Program. Three schools were selected to participate in this process: Colquitt County High School, Cox Elementary School, and R. B. Wright Elementary School. All aspects of daily operations were monitored, financial procedures reviewed, and meal quality evaluated. Following completion of the three-day review, findings were positive. Read more.

Free/Reduced Lunch
Apply today to see if you qualify for Free/Reduced Meals.  Applications are available at all school sites and in the School Nutrition Office.

Colquitt County School Nutrition Rolls Out New Nutrition Standards for School Meals <>
 

The Colquitt County Board of Education School Nutrition Program is updating meals served in school cafeterias.  As a part of the United States Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) New Meal Pattern, school meals will offer foods and portion sizes recommended by the 2010 Dietary Guidelines for Americans; and are a key component of the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010.  Most changes start this school year. 

 Changes include:

    *More whole grain rich-foods
    *More fruits and increased varieties of vegetables 
    *Low fat and fat-free milk choices 
    *Sodium reductions and trans-fats removed 
    *Age-appropriate portion sizes

Pre-Pay Online: To enroll, go to www.myLunchMoney.com and click ENROLL NOW.
Create an account for yourself and your children. Contact your child's school cafeteria to obtain your student's ID number. Provide credit or debit card information. Select the Automatic Pre-Payment Option. Or call customer support at 1-800-479-3531 to enroll by phone or to ask questions.

If paying with cash
, put it in a sealed envelope or the gold pre-pay envelope provided by the cafeteria with your child’s first and last name on it. Also, please write their student ID #, teacher’s name and grade on the outside of the envelope if you are using an envelope from home.

When paying by check, write your child’s first and last name on the check, also their ID #. Use a separate check for each child to ensure that the correct amount of money is applied to each child’s account.

Please make sure your child has money for meals every day. If you need to know how much money is on your child’s account, call the school’s cafeteria manager. The cashier can also tell your child the account balance.

Meal Charges- Click for Meal Charge Procedure.  Please make sure your child’s account stays up to date. If your income goes down or if you should lose your job, you may apply for free or reduced meals anytime during the school year.
